Remembering Scout
Everyone copes with loss in their own way.
I tend to lean into it. Accept it for what it is. Cry a lot. Mourn the loss. Do my best to remember and celebrate the good times.
Scout was not your average dog. She was head of hospitality at our studio. Always looking for snuggles and a good tummy rub. Loved by everyone she greeted when they came to the studio. She was my shadow.
She loved to walk, hike and run. She was an explorer – a ten-pound trailblazer.
The day after her passing. I couldn’t work. So, I went to a place she loved— a nature path at Whetstone Park. Seeing the falling yellow leaves and the sound of creek were theraputic. I gathered bark, nuts, stones, and sticks, hand-printed and digitized them to create this versatile, outdoor-inspired Illustrator brush set.
A few days later, her paw prints arrived in the mail. The brush set wouldn’t be complete without them.
I used the brushes to illustrate Scout with a case of the zoomies, living her best life, and enjoying the fresh air.
I hope you’ll find this versatile, outdoor-inspired brush set to be a regular “go-to” for all of your illustration and design projects.
A lot of care and tears when into making them.
In loving memory of Scout (2009-2022)
